Immediately After Your Tattoo
- Keep the second skin on for the time advised by your artist
- Wash your hands before touching your tattoo
- Gently remove the second skin during shower time for easy removal and rinse the tattoo with lukewarm water
- Clean with a mild, fragrance-free antibacterial soap
- Pat dry with a clean towel or paper towel (do not rub)
First 3–5 Days
- Apply a thin layer of recommended aftercare ointment (less is more)
- Wash the tattoo 2–3 times daily
- Do not re-bandage unless instructed
- Expect redness, tenderness, and light swelling
- Avoid tight clothing that rubs against the tattoo
Peeling & Itching Phase (Days 4–14)
- Light peeling and itching are normal
- Switch to a fragrance-free, lightweight moisturizer
- Do NOT scratch, pick, or peel
- Let scabs fall off naturally
- Keep the tattoo clean and moisturized
What to Avoid (First 2–4 Weeks)
- No swimming (pools, ocean, dams, hot tubs)
- No baths or soaking (quick showers only)
- No direct sun exposure or tanning
- No gym, heavy sweating, or friction for large tattoos
- No alcohol for the first 24–48 hours
- No petroleum jelly, scented lotions, or harsh products
Long-Term Care
- Always use sunscreen (SPF 30+) once healed especially if your tattoo will always be exposed to the sun
- Keep skin moisturized to maintain vibrancy
- Treat your tattoo like the art it is
Signs to Watch For
- Excessive redness, heat, pus, or severe pain
- Fever or red streaks around the tattoo
